Director of Finance

Kindred Homes is looking for a results-driven and confident Director of Finance to lead our organization’s financial performance and direct our accounting operations. The duties of the Director of Finance will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, and ensuring compliance with regulations.  The Director will also oversee accounting operations, banking relationships, analyze financial data, monitor expenditures, coordinate auditing processes and tax preparation, and ensure the accuracy of all financial information.

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills. The noteworthy Director of Finance should streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, promote regulatory compliance, and drive income generation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements to include the income statement and balance sheet and present financial results to Senior Management.
  • Lead and direct accounting responsibilities, including reconciliations. Accounts payable, variance reviews, journal entries. 
  • Responsible for monthly close process and accurate financial statement presentations to Senior Management.
  • Partner with Divisional leadership to maintain and manage accurate forecasts.  This will include Annual Plans and updating forecasts on an as-needed basis
  • Work closely with division leadership and Senior management in managing forward planning with emphasis on land acquisition strategy and capital management
  • Work closely with Bank partners and manage company borrowing base to match operational needs
  • Prepare reports for Senior Management to assist in the daily operation of the divisions.
  • Assist division leadership in managing land assets and lot inventory and assist in lot takedown coordination.
  • Work with purchasing to determine accruals and cost to complete on closed jobs as well as assist in overall cost of goods improvement analyis.
  • Oversee payroll preparation.

 

Requirements:

  • 10 years of construction accounting experience, homebuilding preferred
  • Proven experience in financial management
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals
  • Analytical skills
  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel, and other accounting software. 
  • Experience with BRIX is preferred.
  • Problem Solving, advanced decision making, and analytics
