THE PERFECT HOUSEWARMING GIFT

THE PERFECT HOUSEWARMING GIFT

It is not every day a friend or family member moves into a new home, and when they do, it is definitely worth celebrating. Even if you have known them for ages, finding the right gift to congratulate and help them settle in can be challenging. Trying to find the perfect combination of thoughtful and useful is not always easy, but we have compiled a list of gift ideas to inspire you and help you find the right gift for that new homeowner in your life.

For the Coffee Loving Homeowner

If your relative or friend loves coffee or tea, you can't go wrong with kitchen essentials like a coffee grinder, French press, or an electric kettle. If you want to spend a little extra money or are looking for a group gift, consider a subscription service for coffees or teas from around the world (they have sample sets, too!).

For the Decor Loving Homeowner

Decorating your house according to your tastes is part of the fun of owning your own home. Help your friend or relative add their unique style to the house with art or other decor. For instance, buy a plush throw that matches their furniture or color scheme. Or a coffee table book that speaks to their interests. Other ideas include:

  1. A bookshelf art piece
  2. Letterboards (maybe for their kitchen or entryway)
  3. A large vase and flowers
  4. A decorative tray
  5. Even a framed map of their favorite city or photograph of a memory you have together

There is a lot of room to be creative and have fun with a gift that can be incorporated into their house's decor for years to come.

For the Sentimental Homeowner

If you are trying to find a more meaningful gift, find something that you can personalize! For example, a charcuterie board with the recipient's initials, a throw pillow with their house's latitude and longitude coordinates, coasters with their favorite pictures, or perhaps a doormat that says something like "The Kile Family."

For the Chef Homeowner

If the new homeowner in your life spends lots of time in the kitchen cooking or baking, consider giving them something they will use while whipping up their favorite recipes. Consider a spoon rest in the shape of the state they are from or a recipe journal so they can collect recipes from family and friends. If you are looking for a more expensive gift, consider gifting them a dutch oven, a cast-iron skillet, or even a baking or cooking class.

Still not sure?

Even though you know your relatives or friends like the back of your hand, it can still be challenging to come up with a fantastic housewarming gift. You can never go wrong with candles, succulents, a cornhole game set for everyone to play in the backyard, or a fun wreath for the front door. Of course, if you are still having trouble thinking of ideas, there are always gift cards to their favorite stores, home improvement stores, or a cleaning service.

Don't forget a card to congratulate your homeowner on their new home!
